John Gilham was an outstanding transport historian, author, cartographer and photographer. In 1949 he set out on a journey by bus around South-East England and his account of his journey was published in the very first edition of ‘Buses Illustrated’ the same year.

 

On the 70th anniversary of his trip and the publication, I attempted to replicate his trip. It was certainly not as simple as 1949.
